The sophisticated multi-purpose grain processing plant that Woods Grain operates gives them the capability to handle all types of grain and has been designed for the purpose of offering flexibility depending on seasonal conditions and demands. The key areas of Woods Grain include the following:
Grain Buying / Marketing
Goondiwindi's prominence as a grain growing region and its accessibility to the Port of Brisbane and the local domestic market allows Woods Grain to create better marketing options for growers and traders.
Woods Grain is always in the marketplace looking to buy most grains, however predominantly cereals and pulses.
Woods Grain offers grain to exporters at a Delivered Container Terminal (DCT) price on a regular basis.
Grain Storage
Woods Grain operates a large multi-segregated storage facility. This ranges from 100 Tonne silos to bulk sheds and grain pads. All silos are fully sealed and aerated to ensure high value crops are maintained in good order for extended periods of time. Growers, traders, and end-users can warehouse grain in our storage system for short or long periods of time.
Container Packing
Woods Grain operates a bulk and bagged container packing operation capable of loading 25MT of product into 20 Foot containers. Containers are transported to and from the Port of Brisbane by rail or road. The company's packing facility includes a state of the art fully automated bag closing system and packs product that is either farmer-dressed in bulk or bagged or machine dressed in bulk or bagged.
Grain Cleaning
Woods Grain's cleaning plant is a modern state of the art facility capable of both high capacity dockage grading and fine precision seed cleaning. Features include a flat-screen Westrup cleaner, indented cylinders, debearder, and gravity table. Throughout all transfers of grain, tubeveyor conveyors are used to minimise grain damage. Products handled through the cleaning plant include seed (both cereals and legumes), export faba beans and chickpeas, safflowers, linseed, sunflowers, bird seed and various other crops.
Grain Drying
The grain drying facility at Woods Grain is used to service growers needs when they encounter harvesting crops with high moisture content. With prolonged wet conditions at harvest, grain drying becomes a viable option to ensure grain is not left in the paddock to potentially deteriorate and be downgraded. Woods Grain's high capacity continuous flow dryer can handle the heavy demands at harvest with quick turn-around times for trucks and growers.
Chickpea Splitting
Woods Grain produces a high-quality Chana Dahl from chickpeas grown in the region. This product is marketed throughout the world and also into the domestic market. The chickpeas used are of the highest standard available and sized to ensure maximum splitting efficiency is achieved. |
